During my pregnancy, I had a BodyBond fitness shoot with my adorable photographer husband, Micah B. Rubin Photography. After giggling through some of the “outtakes”, I found the photo that was my favorite of all. Micah was changing the camera settings in between shots and captured me in a moment that I remember like it was yesterday.
It was one of those moments when you glance down at your quickly changing body and find yourself in total awe of pregnancy and the beauty of it all.
As I look back on this photo, I can (almost!) forget my miserable 20 weeks of nausea and vomiting, spending a night in the ER for dehydration, the heartburn, hip pain, lethargy, 73(!) hrs of labor and uncomfortableness of it all. I’ll never be one of those women who “loved” being pregnant. But I can say it was one of the most beautiful and humbling 40 weeks of my life.
As we step into a new year, a new beginning, a new stage of life, take a moment to reflect inwardly and take in the magic of it all.
